Winnipeg Jets forward Blake Wheeler has been named to the United states Olympic mens hockey team for the 2014 Winter Olympic games in Sochi, Russia. The names of all the players was announced to the public at the end of the Jan. 1 Winter Classic played between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings at Michigan Stadium (aka the "Big House") in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Dustin Byfuglien, despite ranking third among NHL defencemen in scoring, was not selected.
