The Winnipeg Jets left their three straight losses at home...at home as they played smart defensive hockey, aided by key saves by Ondrej Pavelec and defeated the Buffalo Sabres 2-1. Bryan Little, Evander Kane, Blake Wheeler and captain Andrew Ladd were the hardest-working Jets on this night wherein the Jets dominated most of the game, save for the last five minutes of the second period when the Sabres scored with 22 seconds left. Little opened the scoring with a goal one minute in. It's the second straight game the Jets have allowed a late goal and the third time this season. They did the same last year and the lax defense late in periods still seems to be a problem for the team.
However on this night the Jets managed to take advantage of another struggling team as the Sabres have now lost two straight and the last four out of five.
