In what most would agree was a gimmie for the Winnipeg Jets Monday night against the Calgary Flames, fully expecting the Jets to come out with a convincing two points given the way the Flames have performed thus far this season; things went slightly aery for the Jets as the Flames outlasted them to win 5-4 in the shootout.
A horrid night of officiating as highlighted by a clear-cut pick-play on Dustin Byfuglien resulting in a Flames goal midway through the third period was as clearly ignored as it was obvious.
The Jets are still playing the resilience game and showing signs of team cohesion after coming back from three different deficits in a game in which they out shot the Flames 23-9 in the second period alone. They carries the play for most of the game, but just couldn't beat Flames rookie goaltender Karri Ramo.
This one should have been over in the second. Another one that got away by the Jets.
