Dustin Byfuglien scored his first even-strength goal of the season and lifted the Winnipeg Jets over the Florida Panthers 3-2 in overtime. Andrew Ladd scored his 13th and Blake Wheeler potted his eighth to give the Jets a 2-0 lead until Jonathon Huberdeau tied it late in the first for the Panthers.
The credit for the win really goes to goaltender Ondrej Pavelec who kept the game closer than it really deserved to be. Time and time again Pavelec had to come up big, especially in the third after the Panthers tied it up at two.
The win puts the Jets just two points behind the South-East division-leading Carolina Hurricanes for third place in the Eastern Conference.
