A much-needed win will have to wait until April 1 at Madison Square Garden against the New York Rangers as the Winnipeg Jets once again were unable to beat a team behind them in the standings as they fell to the Carolina Hurricanes for the first time this season 3-1. The win by the Canes now puts them four points behind the Jets for first place in the South-East division and the third overall seeding in the Eastern Conference.
Just like the back-to-back losses to the Washington Capitals two weeks ago at the MTS Centre, the Jets lost to an inferior team chasing them in the standings and failed to put more daylight between them. The Hurricanes still have three games at at hand over the Jets.
