A short-handed goal by Ryan Kessler was the death-knell for the Jets as they fell in a see-saw battle against the Vancouver Canucks 3-2. Ondjre Pavelec faced another faced another high number of shots, making 42 saves but couldn't see the absolute laser by Samuel Pahlsson that was the eventual winner. Blake Wheeler scored his third goal in as many games. Evander Kane had nine shots on net.
With the loss, coupled with an overtime win by the Washington Capitals against Tampa Bay, the Jets are now tied with the Caps, but because Washington has played one fewer game they take over the eighth playoff spot. However, first place in the South-East is still possible as the Florida Panthers fell 5-0 to the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Jets head back to the friendly confines of the MTS Centre after a stop in Calgary tomorrow against the Flames.
