So with last night's loss the the Eastern Conference-leading New York Rangers, the Winnipeg Jets hopes of a miraculous winning streak to keep their already slim to none playoff hopes alive are now dead in the water. Unbelievably, they are still "mathematically" still in the hunt for the eighth and final playoff spot, but, really, they're done. There will be no last game heroics in the vein of the 1988 New Jersey Devils that will allow them to steal the final spot in the hunt for Lord Stanley's mug in 2012.
The Rangers showed the 1oth-placed Jets exactly why they are one of this seasons elite teams, handing the home team a 6-4 loss in front of an uncharacteristically quiet MTS Centre crowd.
